Fusonet is an extranet portal used to conduct business with the dealerships that sell Fuso trucks. WebSmart allowed Mitsubishi Fuso to write applications that tightly integrated with Thier ERP system running on the iSeries. This allows real time data and transactions when dealers inquire on availability of trucks or parts, buy trucks and spare parts, and manage warranty claims. Mitsubishi Fuso is able to present information on the complete life cycle of a truck from the time it is ordered from the factory to when the dealers sell it to an end user. Read more »

The main goal of the Formica G2 system was to improve distributor relations by paying accurate rebates in a timely fashion, improving communication with their distributors, and reducing administrative cost. Formerly, many distributor rebate requests were faxed in or keyed in by Formica employees that made this system slow and costly. The BCD consulting group assisted Formica in developing a system to improve distributor visibility into the rebate system to submit and track rebate approvals and payments, automate routine tasks and improve maintenance functions which reduced administrative cost. Wenger's public website was developed by the BCD WebSmart consulting team. This site allows customers to access products and information and uses flash which communicates with the back end using XML. The link on the bottom of the page that says “HTML” will take you to the “HTML version” of the site which is similar except served in HTML. The XML used by flash is interpreted to generate HTML instead. This site is primarily for users who don’t have flash or who don’t like flash. Read more »

uniPHARM recently implemented a major internal ERP package with the objective of improving the organizations ability to service shareholders and customers. Most of these customers are pharmacies that order pharmaceuticals and consumer products directly from uniPHARM. Previously, these orders were processed via an Electronic Order Book (EOB) package. This required each pharmacy to install and configure this software on a local PC. Orders were transmitted via e-mail resulting in a variety of problems associated with such an old, unreliable system. This system did not provide uniPHARM’s clients with real time data, validation, pricing or order confirmation. It was also unable to provide alternative products if requested brands were unavailable. In a development process that took the BCD consulting team only 16 hours, uniPHARM recently introduced a Hand Held Device, a Symbol MC50 equipped with barcode reader, for use by staff at uniPHARM member pharmacies. Staff access the Web Ordering application via a secure login WebSmart program using the browser on the MC50. Products are scanned, quantities entered and orders can be placed from the pharmacy floor or confirmed and ordered from a desktop later. Read more »

The Delivery Order Management System provides functionality to manage delivery orders to be shipped via Sea Vessels or Air Shipments. Parts will be entered into the system for an order. These parts are then used to load into containers. These containers will be loaded into the appropriate vessels which will be shipped and delivered to the proper destination. History records are maintained for each part, container and vessel so it is easy to track the progress of any entity in the system. Read more »

Murray City, Utah (population approx. 50,000) is adjacent to Salt Lake City. The Murray City web site has recently been redesigned and revamped providing improved information access and on-line applications. The On-Line Utility system was one of the applications that Murray City wanted to move directly onto the iSeries platform. This provides real time access to data and eliminates using another web application server and the associated costs for hardware, software, and programming. Hosting this application on the iSeries also means that the Murray City IS group can maintain the programs using the WebSmart IDE. Read more »

To help their customers select just the right paint color, Benjamin Moore offers paint samples so that consumers can try the color on their own walls. When SteelNet Solutions hit a snag in an iSeries ERP project that was almost finished, the project deadline and budget to which SteelNet had firmly committed were in jeopardy. The client, a pharmacy wholesaler, was expecting successful completion of the project. Carlos is an internal application used at Universal Music for tracking royalties by artists, catalog numbers (i.e. product - CD's, DVD's, etc.) and titles. It is used by 28 different countries, including Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Greece, Thailand to name a few and was created with WebSmart and highlights WebSmart's multi-lingual capabilities.

As of July, 2003 Kelly's Kids products can also be purchased via their web site at www.kellyskids.com. This new on-line shopping experience is powered by WebSmart. In September 2000, Tricots Liesse recognized the changing trends in application development and the need to provide secure browser based remote access. Ellery evaluated WebSmart and by November had a working site in production. Working with assistance from the BCD consulting group Ellery was able to get the initial web site including sales order inquiries, price lists and product lookups developed in 5 days while at the same time developing a working knowledge of WebSmart. Recently, EGS completed a project which consolidated the data centers for two major business groups onto one iSeries computer. To deliver information to their distributors, sales reps and managers, EGS contracted BCD Consulting to assist them with the development of their browser-based applications. WebSmart programs were already in place and servicing requests for the Appleton and McGill product lines. With the recent consolidation of their database, WebSmart applications now service the entire EGS product line currently available at their internal, password-protected site. Read more »

The new e-commerce web site at www.tanmist.com was developed by BCD Consulting Group under the direction of Dave Hickman, IS Directory for Testor Corp. The TanMist site content is completely dynamic.
