New Features Version 6

Enhancements to EZ-Pickin's Version 6.

Create the query in the Windows app, and run it in the browser

"Floating Trap" captures data from virtually ANY report file

EZ-Pickin's has always been able to capture data from a huge variety of reports. However, the one requirement was that the data be located in a constant position in any report. But with our new Floating Trap feature, even poorly formatted reports and other unstructured business documents, such as log files, are now easy to work with using EZ-Pickin's V6. The Floating Trap scans each report line for a user-defined series of characters, and will capture, or "trap", the data no matter where it is in each report row. The Floating Trap also deals with variable field widths. Now the data in complex, unformatted reports is easily accessible with EZ-Pickin's V6.

"Address Blocks" wizard easily extracts data from addresses in reports

Extracting data fields out of addresses appearing in reports (including international addresses) is now easier than ever. EZ-Pickin's V6 now offers our new Address Blocks feature, which guides the user through a series of point-and-click dialog boxes to specify exactly how EZ-Pickin's is to find, capture and display data fields from addresses in your reports. Postal code formats for virtually every country are fully supported.

Work with your EZ-Pickin's data smarter than ever.

Like all previous versions of EZ-Pickin's, V6 transforms your reports into a live database. And EZ-Pickin's V6 offers a bevy of new features to work with your data smarter and more easily than ever before. Here's just a sample of the new data analysis features in EZ-Pickin's V6:

  • Prompt the User to Enter a Value or Values -- With EZ-Pickin's V6's Runtime Parameters feature, you can prompt your user to enter unique values or labels each time you open a desired report model file. For example, each time you open your model file, EZ-Pickin's V6 can prompt you to enter today's exchange rate, and all related calculations will update properly.

  • Lookup Fields -- Now it's easy to transform a value in your report into a new value you want, such as transforming a "Day of the Week" value of 1 - 7 to "Sunday", "Monday", etc., or transforming a Department Number appearing in your report to the correct Department Name.

Work with Summary views of your data like never before

EZ-Pickin's V6 gives you lots of exciting new ways to work with summarized views of your data. Here's just a sample:

  • Exception Coloring lets you see problem areas at a glance. You can select upper and lower limit ranges for values in your summery and define different coloring for each.
  • Summary Formatting allows you to add background and text colors anywhere in your summary as well. Proportional fonts are allowed for improved presentation and printing. When you export any summary to Excel, all formatting, including the colors, are retained. (Excel 97 or later required).
  • Export All Summaries to Multiple Worksheets or Databases. By popular demand, EZ-Pickin's V6 now lets you export all of your summary views at the same time, either as separate files in a desired folder, or as multiple spreadsheet pages or databases within a single file.

Export your data in HTML and Office XP formats

In addition to exporting any data view to Excel, Access, 1-2-3 and many other formats, EZ-Pickin's V6 now lets your export your table or any summary data as HTML. Your Summary views saved as HTML will retain all color settings. You can also export in XML-SS format, the XML Spreadsheet format supported by Office XP. (Requires Office XP or freely available Office XP web components).

More Summary view features, including improved charts

Change chart colors and font settings for the title, X-Y axis, values, even the background. As always, copy and paste your charts to Word, Excel, Powerpoint and more. -- Specify the sort order of summary fields any way you like. --Include the key value in the subtotal label. --Suppress the grand total line, or display it with any label you specify.
