Installation Instructions
These instructions are for new installs of WebSmart 11.3 ILE, PHP (on IBM i) and Clover (or higher) only. Please log in to myFreschesolutions.com to access the New Features and Upgrade Guide as well as the User Guide. If you don't have an IBM i, use these instructions to install WebSmart PHP on your PC.
Step 3a: Install the WebSmart IBM i Components from BCD Setup Express.
This step is required for all installs on the IBM i
- The install will prompt you with the following window:
If you are installing WebSmart for the first time, the BCD Setup Express will use XL_WEBLIB library by default. If XL_WEBLIB already exist on your system, the install will also require you to specify names for backup libraries in the upgrade options.
If you want to have multiple development environments you can rerun the installation and specify a different library name.
Additional libraries installed during WebSmart installation are XL_WEBSPT, XL_WEBDEMO, XL_EX55, XL_WEBAPPS and BCDSUPPT.
- After the successful installation the BCD Setup Express will prompt you to enter
a license key:
If you received an email from BCD with your license key, you can copy that key and paste it to the Express Setup screen and press the Submit button. After you see the message in the activity log that the license key was applied successfully, you can can click Close on this window and then Close on the BCD Setup Express window. The installation of the Websmart IBM i components is now complete.
If you have not yet received a license key phone BCD at (630) 986-0800, or email sales@bcdsoftware.com. You can enter your license key after installing using the command XL_WEBLIB/UNLOCK.
You can install the WebSmart IBM i Components either from BCD Setup Express or an IBM i session. The installation from BCD Setup Express is new for 11.3 and if that method is used step 3b can be skipped. Alternatively, the IBM i components can still be installed from an IBM i session. In that case, close the BCD Setup Window and go to the step 3b "Installing the IBM i Components from IBM i Session".

Important Note about the WEBSMART HTTP Server Instance:
As part of your WebSmart IBM i install we create, configure and start an Apache HTTP server instance named WEBSMART, running on port 8150. This allows you to start running your programs as soon as you install the software.
You can use the WEBSMART HTTP server instance however you want, but we recommend that once you start creating production applications you create your own server instances and use those. In our own internal development projects we have caused the HTTP server instances to go down due to malformed SQL and other programmatic issues, so we recommend that you create at least two separate server instances, for your development and production environments.
